Blodwyn
Verwood RUFC Team Mascot

Blodwyn joined Verwood RUFC following her purchase at Tesco's Winchester on the morning of England v Wales at Twickenham on Saturday  20th March 2004 at 9.18am. Somehow, she managed to survive the trip despite being disembowelled by Simon Banks! Thankfully, she was skilfully repaired by Alan Rex (yes, Alan not Kim - who said blokes can't sow) so as to be returned to her former glory following further sprucing up after a trip via the washing machine. Here's her Story so far.

Twickenham 2004

This all started out as a very pleasant experience for me. After being freed from the clutches of Tesco's by a friendly welshman with a particular liking to sheep (ewes in fact), I travelled on that famous pilgrimage to Twickenham which all Welshfolk long to experience. I was privileged to be taken to London Welsh where I was well pampered. Welsh choirs in full voice, good hospitality, as well as plenty of fresh grass to keep me going.
Then disaster. I was thrust into the care and clutches of an evil Englishman by the name of Banksie who abused me dreadfully for the remainder of the day. How I survived I will never know. I am forever grateful to the kind Rex family for rescuing me and nurturing me back to health. In fact, it was only after my holiday in France that I feel well enough to resume my duties as mascot for season 2004/5. Please do not let Banksie near me.

Holidaying in France August 2004

To All my friends and admirers at Verwood RUFC.
I have been having a wonderful time holidaying with the Rex family and I am now fully rested and ready for the new season.
I have attached a few snaps just to give you a flavour of my  holiday and look forward to seeing you all at the matches.
Regards

The weather was wonderful and all the people I met were very friendly. Being brought up in Wales I am used to men looking at me fondly but these French guys just can't seem to get enough of me. Although why they keep calling me agneau, or something like that, is beyond me, but that accent makes my back legs wobble.

It is all a bit confusing at times and they seem to have some very strange ideas about what a refined young lady, such as myself, should be doing on a bed of mushrooms liberally soaked in red wine but Sam & Ryan have made certain I come to no harm.

Did you know 2003 was the year of the sheep? Famous people born in the Year Of The Sheep:
Gene Hackman, Mikhail Gorbachev, Leonard Nimoy, Prunella Scales, John Major & George Harrison

Those born in the Year of the Sheep are said to be charming, elegant and artistic, who like material comforts. A bit of a worrier, they also have a tendency to complain about things. Jobs as actors, gardeners or beachcombers would suit.
