The final week of the Touch Rugby saw The Three Swans finish top of
the Table to win the Hookway Cup - Congratulations to them. Thanks to everyone
who took part over the last six weeks.

The guys enjoyed the hospitality afforded by the Three Swans at the
"Breakfast with the Lions" meet for the First Test Match. What a game!

Week 4 of the Touch Rugby saw the Sun Shine and a marvellous turnout. Our thanks to the Avon Advertiser with the feature on the competition.
Despite it pouring down with rain week 3 of the touch rugby went ahead on 14th June with an amazing turnout particularly from the ladies and youngsters.

The Club has received confirmation that its application to transfer to Hampshire Division 3 next season has been accepted. This will effectively mean we will be playing more local opposition next season.

The first round of matches have been played in
the Thursday evening touch rugby tournament with first scalps to The Fayrewood
and The Three Swans. Our thanks to Rex for laying on such a great spread
at The Albion for the after match refreshments.
Youngsters from Verwood & Cranborne played in the final of the under 14 All England Tournament at Twickenham on Sunday 27th May. Bournemouth took on Biggleswade just prior to the England v Barbarians match. The Match was dran and the two sides shared the honours.

On Saturday 28th April, to honour Nick Carlyon, the Club organised a special game between Verwood Old Boys & the Present Incumbents. The Match was played in extremely good spirit and was a fitting tribute to Nick. The Old Boys won 36-20

It is with great regret that we announce the sad news of the death of of our member Nick Carlyon on Sunday 22nd April. I am sure everyone who knew him will now be feeling a great loss of a dear friend and fellow rugby player who has been taken from us so tragically.
The funeral is to be held at Cranborne Church at 11.00am on Tuesday
8th May followed by burial at Verwood Cemetery, Ringwood Road, Verwood
A reminder that the Club's end of season Dinner Dance will be held at the Ashburn Hotel, Fordingbridge on Friday 11th May & not the St Leonards Hotel as had originally been planned. An opportunity for everyone to let their hair down. Tickets are available from Ken Banks.
An action packed weekend of Rugby at Potterne Park on 21/22 April. Verwood drew 17-17 at home to Pewsey Vale (see Match Pictures) and entertained tourists Paignton on Sunday (See Pictures).

To mark the 7th anniversary of the Club (see History) Verwood played Portcastrians at Home on Saturday 7th April for the Club Shield. Verwood won the Match 34-27. Only one long distant match picture as the Webmaster was running the line!

Verwood lost at home to Martock on Saturday 31st March. Alas, only one picture as the Webmaster was called upon to make up the numbers. In this snap, Wayne has his work cut out in defence!
Verwood's game against New Milton was postponed due to a water logged pitch.
In a re-arranged fixture, Verwood played a Wimborne XV. This was a finely balanced match which Verwood deserved to win. Final score 17-17. See Match Pictures

Our illustrious Secretary, Robin Peirce, has been on sabbatical in Rome searching out new recruits. After the Roma Gloucester match he caught up with the Gloucester front row. In case you didn't know Robin has assumed the hooking position. Where did he get that hat?

Verwood RUFC hold a training session once a week during the season.
However near or far flung you may be, new players are always welcome.
Training is on Thursday evenings at Potterne Park Verwood, starting at
7pm.
