Kingsclere
Disappointingly, Verwood had to concede this
game to Kingsclere. On the morning of the game Front Row Forwards Ian Mackrell
and John Hill both cried off having been stricken down with rare tropical
illnesses. Consequently, we were unable to field a front row which is a
requirement of the RFU Competition regulations. The game was played but
Verwood lost 5-47. See Pictures

Unfortunately, the match had to be abandoned after

only broken his collarbone. We wish him a speedy recovery.

December 2002
Club Members Simon Banks, Dave Hockaday, Andrew
Hoggins, Mike Wheatley, Darren Clarbull & Paul McGill took part
in the above programme on BBC 1 on Monday 23rd December. Around
8 million viewers watched the BBC's Test The Nation according to ratings
figures.7.9m tuned in for the first part of the survey, which began at
8.30pm, with 7.7m returning for the second part after the 10pm news bulletin.
They made up a contingent of 40 players which was
narrowly beaten into second place by the Celebrities. Rugby players scored
77%, with cab drivers on 74% and a group of parents in third place with
65%. Hairdressers scored 62%, secretaries 60%, and teenagers 58%. Verwood's
Paul McGill narrowly missed out on being the best studio competitor by
a mere 3% scoring 90%. For full details click on the banner above. If you
have n't taken the test you can still do so. The full report of the Club's
efforts can be seen at Verwood
