RNLI Raft Race
For the third consecutive year, Verwood RUFC won the prestigious Swanage & Wareham raft race on Saturday 17th July. Congratulations to Roy Hammond and his crew who's theme this year was "Yellow Submarine".
Robin Peirce

Congratulations to Robin who has, for the second consecutive season, been voted the best touch judge in Dorset & Wilts. The Club came second to North Dorset who won the prestigious Bob Stock Trophy where Club's are scored by referees as to Admin before the game, punctuality, provision of Touch judges, pitch settings, first aid arrangements, spirit of the games & after match hospitality. Strangely we marked down for punctuality? See  Bob Stock Trophy  See also Robin's Page

May 2004
Ben Stocken
Ben has returned safely from his missionary work in Peru. Unfortunately his shoulder injury may prevent him playing in season 2004/5.
New Pitch
Sadly, the Club says farewell to its pitch at Potterne Park where the Club has played over the last 10 years. A pitch swap has been imposed upon us by the Verwood Community Associations (VCA) which manages Potterne Park to allow Verwood Town FC to develop better facilities for their Club. This change has been strongly opposed by the Club. We will now play on Verwood Town's old Pitch which fronts on to the Pavilion. The VCA will move our Rugby Posts at their expense in the next few weeks (allegedly).
End of Season Dinner Dance
The Dinner was held on Friday 7th May at the RBL.  Over 60 attended. Our thanks to Ken Banks, Kim & Alan Rex for organising this event. Congratulations to those who received Awards namely: April 2004
The Nick Carlyon Memorial Game

This was the Club's final game of the season when Past play Present on Saturday 24th April. A very high scoring game with the Present beating the past 45-38 in a thoroughly entertaining game. Click on the above to see larger version of the Team Picture.

This annual match is a fitting tribute the to the late Nick Carlyon who died in 2001. He was a young man and a friend to all at Verwood RUFC. As a founder member of our Club, he played in the front row and later in the backs at centre. His happy and generous disposition was always apparent. Sadly, he took his own life.

Three phases of quick rolling Mauls saw the ball moved wide to centre Karl Jensen who scored in the corner.
See Video Clip of Karl's Try
Just before the break, a counter attack from deep saw Pumas winger Phil Nuttal touch down under the posts. Jes Laker coverted. On the stroke of half-time Emery slotted a penalty from 35 metres. 15-7 at half time. Verwood dominated the second half and were camped in Pumas 22. Following one of the few Pumas incursions into the Verwood half, a penalty award saw Jes Laker successfully kick at goal.See Match Report  Other Results: Elligham & Ringwood

In the second half, Verwood were camped in the Swans 22 and crossed the line four times only to see tries disallowed for indeterminate reasons.
